This is a price list, not an estimator. The four bands below are the real set prices TB'S Trees charges for tree removal in Bendigo, and the figure the tool shows you is the figure Tom books the job at.
On the three larger bands the price moves with what you tick: back yard rather than front, hand-carry access rather than a mini loader run, and each structure or line the tree sits over. The same loadings apply whether the tree is in Kangaroo Flat or out at Heathcote, with no travel charge between suburbs. Prices are in AUD, plus GST where it applies.
Height sets the band, but the wood is what you pay for. A squat 8-metre grey box with a trunk a metre through holds far more timber than a slim 12-metre ornamental pear. That is why the photo of the whole tree matters more than any other field — trunk diameter, stem count and crown spread are all read off that shot. Flag multi-trunk trees in the notes box.
After size, access is the biggest swing in the cost of a Bendigo tree removal. A mini skid-steer is about a metre wide; if it reaches the base of the tree, the timber is out and the site clear in a fraction of the time. If every barrow-load comes through a 900mm side gate by hand, the same tree becomes a much longer day — which is why back yards cost more than front yards.
A tree with clear ground under it can be dismantled and dropped. A tree over a roof, a shed, a pool, a clothes line or a neighbour's fence has to be rigged, every limb roped, cut and lowered under control. Service lines carry the heaviest loading, because work near energised conductors in Victoria is regulated. Tick everything honestly — an overhang left off the form is not money saved, it is a variation priced on the day.
A standard removal takes the tree down to a low stump. Grinding it out below ground level is a separate job that costs far less while the machine is already on site — see stump grinding in Bendigo if you want the ground back for turf or paving. Debris deserves a line in the notes box too: some customers want every stick carted off, others want the timber cut into firewood lengths and the chip left as mulch.
Fair question, and the answer is not that everyone else is hiding something. Tree work is one of the few trades where two jobs that look identical from the street differ by thousands. The same 15-metre gum is a straightforward morning when the truck parks beside it, and a full day of climbing and hand-carrying when it sits behind a house on a narrow Golden Square block. Quote that blind and you either underquote into a loss or pad every price for the worst case.
The way around it is not to guess. It is to ask you the questions an arborist would ask standing in your yard, and have the photos back the answers up. In exchange, the price you lock in is held to. Prefer the old way? Book a free tree removal quote in Bendigo and Tom will come out.
Honestly, our set prices do not move with the calendar: a medium removal in Bendigo costs the same in July as in November. What changes is how full the diary is.
Late autumn and winter are the quiet stretch. Storm work has died down and lead times are shorter. Deciduous trees are bare, which makes them genuinely easier to assess — structure, deadwood and lean visible without a canopy in the way, and your photos will be better for it. Spring and early summer run the other way, when the north winds arrive, limbs come down across Strathfieldsaye and Epsom overnight, and emergency work pushes planned jobs back.
So if the tree is simply in the wrong place and you are not in a hurry, the cooler months usually get you a date that suits. If it is dead, split, leaning further than it was, or dropping limbs, do not wait for a season. Hazardous trees keep no calendar, which is why the phone is answered on 0498 609 887 around the clock.
The same set prices apply across the City of Greater Bendigo.
